Company Investments Claim

By Jason Smith | Cases, Consumer Law | Comments are Closed | 19 March, 2019 | 0

Obtained a Successful Jury Verdict in Favor of Our Client Who Was Denied Shares of Stock in a Lucrative Manufacturing Company

Summary of the Case:

  • Our Plaintiff client had an oral contract with the owner of the Defendant company that he would receive a percentage of stock in the company which would invest over time. Plaintiff kept following up about getting the shares of stock, but the owner of Defendant company kept delaying the discussion.  After several years of working extremely hard at the company and meeting all of his goals and benchmarks, Plaintiff was fired without any valid cause and was never given any shares in the company as promised.

Procedural History

  • A complaint was filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court against both the Defendant company for issuance of the promised shares of stock as well as for wrongful termination. The case went to a jury trial.

Result:

  • After a 4-week jury trial, a verdict was returned in favor of our client in which he was awarded the promised shares of stock in the company, as well as substantial monetary award for the wrongful termination and other claims alleged against the company.
